I'm having some problems accessing files from my Windows XP machine on my Mac. I would like to copy some of these files to my mac, but they don't show up. First I connected an NTFS formatted external HD to my Mac,to copy some files, but it showed only 46 gigs as existing in the 52 gig folder I wanted to copy. When I open the folder, it will not show the content in some folders, like they are empty, even though I know there are files in there. Then I thought I'd try to move the files over my network, using SMB. But the mac still couldn't see the files over the network. And when I tried dragging some onto my mac I got the message that I don't have sufficient privs to access the files. Anybody know what is going on here and what the fix is?? Thanks!!

Are you running a firewall on the XP machine? If so you
need to set the Mac's address as a trusted zone within the
firewall settings.

Are you serious?

OSX has no problem reading ntfs - it cannot write ntfs, but it
can certainly read anything on an ntfs system.
