I have the MZ-N505 sony's net MD, and also and Imac. the problem is that the software which is used to record mp3 on a md, is only for PC. Can someone tell me where to find a mac version of the openMG software?? or an other software which allow me to use the USB connection to use my music....

Unless there's something on the Sony WWW site for Macs, there probably isn't any way to use that with a Mac.

You don't have to record with the usb plug! Just use an optical plug or standard mini-plug. MDLP is not a usb only feature, therefore just set your md player to mdlp and record your music you'll still be able to fit over 300mins of music on a single md.

its taking away the whole point of using a Net MD. A net MD transfers music from a PC to a MD, like a CD burn process, and makes recordin a damn sight quicker! I have always had Sony portable minidisc units, and its a shame u need 2 use the old fassioned method of recordin! so Andy, your post b4 this 1 was pointless cos ur jus forgettin the whole point of net md! thick yank!

I doubt you'll be able to get this running on Virtual PC, the thing doesn't work right on the PC. Check Sony's message boards! There is, however, another way to do this that involves Nero 5.5 (not sure if they have this for Macs) which is detailed at MiniDisc.org under their NetMD section. Realone player (not sure this is a Mac product either) can port songs from your computer to Mini Disc, and is a somewhat more reliable program, and I don't think *THINK* it has the same 3 download per song limit that Open MG has. You change song titles with Realone, however, forcing you to do this the long way on you MD player.
Summary: I seem to recall having to actually enter a DHCP machine IP address for Mac OS 8.x, but in 9.x and X, it seems like it figures it out if you just go to control panels and tell it you want it to be DH...
