I'm needing some advice. I'm in love with my current computer. I've finally managed to upgrade it enough so that it runs really well with all the design software I have on it. I have just under 40GB with about half used for my hard drive. I have 1GB module in this thing but I'm going to school for graphic communications and I have no doubt that this little thing isn't going to be able to handle MORE design software. It already doesn't really like doing much more when I run Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady together. So I'm looking into a Mac because I've heard those are better for dealing with all of the design software I'll need to finish my degree and go on with my life. I just have never had to deal with Mac's before. All my schools have always had pc's and while I know there are similarities, there are big differences as well. So any advice on what I should be looking into and saving for would be great. I'm looking to keep whatever I decide on for as many years as possible. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Purely from a capability perspective, you'll want an "old" G5 (not an Intel Mac). Perfect for the job of video and image editing.
