After several hours trying to negotiate HP's unfriendly site, and trying downloaded drivers that give perplexing error messages, i've just about given up trying to get my USB scanner working..the old HP scanner i had, had no trouble with the downloaded drivers but the install programs for these ones dont work..i tried emailing them but every 'contact HP' link I clicked led me to another web page that had me going in circles..I cant order the cd with the drivers either 'cuz you need a credit card , no other payment option is offered..(most places that give a choice between downloading or ordering on CD let you use other options for the cd payment)
After two hours of this i'm throwing up my arms in defeat :), and hoping instead that some kind soul out there has the drivers that came with this scanner, that can mail them to me..pleez!
Its an HP Scanjet 5300C ...
Thanks...

Yeah, HP's site is a mess...I was looking through it, and it looks like you have to download version 1.4.2 first, and then update it to 3.0. (Why can't they just put 3.0 up by itself?) Anyway, the URL to 1.4 is
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/software/
sj539en.hqxand the 3.0 update is at
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/software/
sj540en.hqxas nearly as I can tell. I don't have an HP scanner, so
I can't test them, but I think that's it.

Well, yeah, i do appreciate the response,
however, i tried that already, you
know...when i started the 1.4.2 installer, i
got the message 'default location not
found' and the installer shut down..it
appears for this particular scanner there's
no other driver on their website either..
all I really need is the USB extensions for
it, i'm sure the scanner application from
my old 4400c will work with this one too.
I'm not absolutely sure, tho...%00
