need help, play AVI files on Mac??

hi! I need some help on playing AVI files on a mac....I've used windows media and realplayer, quicktime, they all say that the file type is wrong. what should i do? or rather, what application. any tips would be appreciated. thanks.

The problem you might be encountering is that the file that is .avi could possibly be encoded in divx which is another encoding format for video. Go to versiontracker.com and search for divx and you should get the result for the mac divx player. See if you can play the files with that.

hey, i've tried using the DIVX player on my iBook, and the AVI will play, but the audio just skips and won't play. any other suggestions?
