My g4 wont boot any mac cd just a linux

Im new to mac, i had os 9 on my new g4 and deleted all the partitions with a debian linux cd, now when i initilize my 10 gig disk iot says its 435 gigs, the mac doent make that happy little noise it used to when i turne it on either, i have a mac os x update cd , a mac os 9 update cd a darwin cd and a linux debian cd but only the linux cd will boot none of the mac ones will, and even after i install linux my hard disk wont boot it . i need to fix this, i beleive the problem is some how do to my partitioning and i dont have the money to by hard disk toolkit can anyone help me. i am downloading os x full cd to burn on my pc and a friend is sending me a copy of os 9 will those cd's not boot as well?

Have you tried holding down the "c"
button while booting?

So the CD that came with your G4 doesn't boot it?

You might have farked your disk if you formatted it with a Linux formatter. I'd try zapping the PRAM and booting from the CD that came with the G4.

too bad i dont have that cd, i am also getting the os x upgrade cd to boot now but since i dont have os x installed it wont do anything. if anyone knows where to downloacd os x id apriciate the help. i downloaded all but 1 mb off edonkey 2000 and it still cant find that last mb

You could buy a copy of OS X instead of trying to pirate it everywhere.

You could actually go to the trouble of searching for the CD that came with your "new" G4. If it was bought new, you have it. You just don't want to find it.

the pickle has it right. There is this whole world of Legal software out there. Oddly enough it normally works correctly.

Find your cd.
