Hello. After upgrading my iMac(8.6 OS)to
OS X, I decided that I don't like OS X. I took it off and left OS 9.2 on but it ran slow & crashed frequently. I next ran Norton 6.0 Disk Doctor. After fixing some problems, Norton couldn't fix the following problem: Major Error, Multiple system folders. Apple recommends against this. (16, 1, 10).
Can someone direct me as to what to do or how to get rid of the 'multiple system folders? It will be greatly appreicated. Thank you.

It means that your Mac OS 8.6 System Folder is
still floating around on your Hard Drive
somewhere - along with Mac OS 9.2.Open Sherlock and key in: System Folder
Then see how many System Folders it comes up
with and where they are.Previous System Folders differ from the current
System Folder in that the Folder itself has no little
blue face on it. What is known as an "unblessed"
System Folder - yet it can still confuse you Mac as
it contains duplicate System components - eg:
Finder or Mac OS ROM.Find the Previous System Folder(s) and then
either back them up first and then Trash them - or
just Trash them. If the former 8.6 System Folder
contained an e-mail folder - you might want to
back it up first. Why the Norton / Apple error?
It's simple: A town can only have one Mayor. A
town can only be run... by one Mayor.cheers

CW,
Thanks for the quick response to my problem. I did as you instructed but Sherlock only found 1 system folder on the Mac HD and it did have a little blue 'mac' face on it. So if Norton couldn't fix the problem of multiple system folders & Sherlock only found 1, would you assume everything's okay or are there other system folders hiding somewhere. I'm confused. Thanks.
Mark

Mark,
In Sherlock, try entering either terms: "system" or
"Finder" and see if it comes up with more than one
of either.cheers
