I'm writing this for my child and my knowldeg on MAC is zero. She is trying to upgrade MSN Messenger from http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downlo...
, If she ties to download the update or "Install From Site" the .bin file just opens in a text program. There is no .DMG file.

The instructions :step 3(After downloading MSN Messenger on to your desktop, double-click the .DMG file and drag and drop its contents to your applications folder.)

Any help would be appreciated.

She says it still does not work:
iBook G4, Mac OS X Version 10.4.11

I already had MSN on my computer when I bought it. I just started trying to use it, now that I am in Mexico. I have a hotmail account and should be able to log in. Every time I try to, a message pops up saying that I must download the new version to use it. I click yes and it downloads the .bin file, which opens from my textedit application. I have already gone to the website and successfully downloaded the english .dmg and have successfully placed it in my applications. It is called messenger351.dmg. I don't know what else I can do. What do I do with the .bin file?

She downloaded from site posted by Joshua Coventry and received this error:
"You cannot install Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac.12.01 Update on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."

Thats because that link is to the MS office 2008 update, ignore that link above. If you downloaded a *.bin file, download and install "stuffit expander" to extract the .bin file.

Most likely a .bin file will be the OS9 version, try searching for an OSX version.

Core 2 Duo 1.86

ASUS P5L-MX
Nvidia 8500GT 500/1000
