I love my computer, but it has a 12" screen and I use it
primarily as a desktop now. How can I cheaply get a
larger screen? Can one hook up a tv screen as a
monitor????

If your TV has RCA or S-video input you can purchase an
adapter to connect to the mini-VGA port. The television will
only mirror what is displayed on the iBook display but it will
be a larger image for you. The same holds true for any
external displays. Most of those will be a standard VGA
connection and will require a different adapter.

Good luck!
