Comment: Hi, I don't really know much about this, so sorry if I use the wrong words for stufff. I'm considering buying an old Performa 6214 from somebody for twenty bucks. I'm thinking about using it mostly for MIDI stuff because I've heard that the interface is cheaper than the USB kind I'd need for the iMac. My uncle started Opcode or something so I can probably get a driver. I've got a MIDI keyboard with the cable thingies--what more do I need? Thanks....

Reply: (edit)invest the money you safe by not bying the performa to buy an usb midi interface. Other wise: for the performa you'll need a midi interface for the serial port: cheapest should cost about 40 or 50$ with one midi in and two midi out (and a serial through port ?) good luck and enjoy music CiaO - uDo

Reply: (edit)Hmm..well, the thing is, the performa I was going to buy was only 20 bucks, monitor and all, and since maybe I can also get a midi interface for a serial port for free probably (since my uncle's got junk lying around from up to 1998 but no later), I was wondering if it was worth it...it might still be, I'll think about it
