Comment: This can't be true. I was told in order to play avi files, i need to install virtual windows, cause the mac OS won't play Avi files. it's just a codec, right???
i've tried many different avi files, and they won't play in quicktime, or media player for mac. Any suggestions?

It works fine for some of my avi files but for some thers I still get the error message from quicktime: missing compressor
Are there several types of avi files???
