Comment: Firstly I confess that I know absolutely nothing about Apple Computers so I could be missing something blindly obvious! It was trial and error for me to find the on switch! The machine boots perfectly but I only have a hard disk and trash can icon. I have tried putting CD Roms into the CD Drive but despite some normal CD Drive type sounds nothing happens, no CD Icon appears on the desktop. Checking the Apple System Profiler says that Expansion Bay 1 ID=0 CD-Rom Drive but 'No mounted media inserted' There appears to be no software at all on the hard drive apart from the 'system Folder'. This machine was found in the cellar at work, I have no Operating System disks or manuals. Any guesses what its former owner has done to it to provoke them into hiding it in the basement?

Reply: (edit)What CDs have you tried putting in there? Are you sure there's something on them? Might wanna grab an OS 9.1 CD off eBay and try a fresh install of the OS. p

Reply: (edit)I've Tried: Mac Format Disks Magazine disks (PC & Mac Format) Blank Disks, Disks burnt from my PC and Blank disks but it refuses to acknowledge any of them. I'll try reinstalling the OS when I get a copy but any suggestions what to do if it doesn't acknowledge the installation disk?
