macintosh HD locked

For some reason my internal hard drive
is locked. Does anyone know how i
might unlock it?

By locked, do you mean it is password/access protected, or will it not spin up?

The drive spins up and works fine. By
locked i mean i can't copy files from it, i
can't move files, i can't make folders, etc.

How can i unlock the drive?

If you boot from a CD, does that make any difference?
