macintosh driver executable?

hi.
i have just received a driver file for my usb hard drive. i expect it to be an installer of some sort.
when i open it tho', it opens up using simpletext. how do i make it an executable?

You do not tell us what USB drive you are talking about or what file extension the driver file has when you downloaded it.
Maybe you have a PC driver instead of mac. Maybe you have the right file for mac, but downloaded it on a PC, therefore screwing it up royally.
More info would help.

hi.
it's a trekstor usb drive. and i think the file was sent from a pc to my mac. it does say usb mac driver install. it has no extension after being unzipped (it was zipped!) from the file i was sent.

oh! forgot to mention that i emailed trek for the driver and it was them that sent it thru email to me. that's why i'm so puzzled why it isn't working. thanks!

Email me the file THEY sent you along with any email text they sent with it and I will look at it. Thier website offers no Mac driver d/l's, and that's kind of fishy.

It probably got its resource fork stripped out when you received it on your PC.
Tell them to resend it as a binhex file. Transfer that directly to your Mac and *then* decompress it.
