I have MacDraw Pro 1.5v2 running on a 466MHz G4 tower and a Wallstreet G3 Powerbook. Both machines are running OS 9.1. The program runs fine on both machines, but will not let me save a modified file without changing the filename. When I try a save, I get an error message with a yellow yield sign which says: "Sorry, there is not enough room on this disk. 1K more bytes are needed."
I have the memory for this program set to 16000K, and virtual memory is off.
Any ideas on what might be wrong?
Thanks,
Brian

I have MacDraw Pro running on
MacOS9.0.4. and get same file save
issues as others. Could it be HFS
incompatibilities? (HFS=Hierarchical
Filer System).

Below is the reponse I got from the help people here. Based on his comments I put the files on a zip disk and used them there and it seems to work ok.
This problem probably has to do with the newer software that recent versions of the MacOS use for controlling how your hard drive space is
allocated. An exmaple of the difference between the two systems would be when one goes to erase or otherwise format a disk in their computer: a number of options are given, including "MacOS Standard" and "MacOS Extended". By default, new machines are now shipped with their hard drives set to the "Extended" type, which allows for a much more efficent use of today's comparitively gigantic hard drives.
Another option would be to try to reformat your G4's hard drive as "MacOS Standard", but this would mean having to reinstall everything you have on the machine, and I can't guarantee that this will actually work. But the option is there...

I have this problem too. But I can fix it.
If you have a Zip drive or superdisc you can save or save as your work on that kind of media. After finish you work you can move to store in you harddrive. But I have the other problem I can't print the work to the laserprinter can any one help me?
Thanks

The problem might be with the size of your hard drive. MacDraw has trouble saving files to hard drives larger than 2.0 gigabytes. I ran into this problem and made a 2.0 gig partition and save files to it with no problem.

I too am using the zip drive solution. Do
you notice that you get alot of crashes with
MacDraw Pro on the newer macs? Somedays I am
crashing every few moments, but I hate to
leave the program behind as the simplicity as
well as the scaling and use of layers is
essential to me. Ideas of an alternate

Forgive slightly off-topic...am trying to find how to research MacDraw capabilities and how to buy. Who sells it? I need limited CAD capability for specific projects, PowerCADD is way more than I need.
Any help most appreciated.

Try MacDraft. It is a similar program to MacDraw and works very well on system 9.1 that I have.
You can even download a free demo copy.
