Comment: Alright I got a new cdrom (I found out the old one was fried) and I set the jumpers, and cables. My Powermac 6100/60AV detects the cd-rom, but the problem is: it won't detect cds. I know the cd-rom workd (Apple CD-Player runs) but it won't load cds. Is there a way to force the mac to search for a cd, and any reason why it wont detec?

Reply: (edit)I tried holding c/apple+cmd+shift+del. When I say apple cdplayer I mean it knows there is a cd-rom drive but no cd.

Reply: (edit)Try placing a Cd that is bootable in your drive and restarting the computer while holding down the option key. This will bring up the start up manager and should list all available volumes you may choose to start from. Hopefully the CD will be listed as a choice... If it isn't listed then look in your System folder/ Extensions folder to see if you have these listed: Apple Photo Access Audio CD Access High Sierra File Access ISO 9660 File Access Foreign File Access ISSO 9660 These are required to access various types of CDs on the Macintosh platform. Hope this helps... bwest3
