MAC won't execute File-Sharing Programs

I don't know MAC, a friend has one. He has MAC OS 8.6 and wants to file-share. We've tried a few diff programs with no luck. Even with LimeWire (for MAC) he gets an error similiar to this: something encrypted in the file thats causing an extraction error. Any idea what would work to fix this problem?
