Reply: (edit)There is an emulator for what you speak of. It's around 100 bucks. It has limitations, but was said to work fairly well, not great. I forget the name of it. it was reviewed in MacAddict or Mac World about 8 months to a year ago. Why not check the archives at the websites for those mags? ZDNET would be a good place to search also.

Reply: (edit)Yes and no. There is no current emulator for a PPC yet. There are however a number that will emulate system 7.1 to OS 8.1. They are SoftMac 2000 (works best with Windows 2000 and a Pentium II or better, but will run on a Pentium I with a 200 MHZ CPU), Fusion (SoftMac's predessor), Executor and Basilisk II. Of these only Executor will run without the use of an actual Mac rom image so you really need that first. SoftMac costs about $100-200, Executor about $100 I believe. Basilisk II is freeware. I have Basilisk II, after trying SoftMac 2000 and Executor, running on my Pentium with Windows 95 and it really runs well, albiet a little slow with some progs. Guess it mostly depends on your system what works best, but with Basilisk you can use all your drives (3 1/2 floppy, Zip, and CD Rom) as well as your modem for internet and your printer. Hope this helps!
