from an apple tech
1st of all the the prossers has to be atleast 500mh, and u just can't go from 9 to tiger you need 10.3 to upgrade to tiger
There is a cd exchange program for the dvd here is the link http://www.apple.com/macosx/upgrade/
do the media exchange, but this will not work on your os 9
try upgrading to 10.2 you can google it under mac os x 10.2, sould cost much, but that is the way to go, or just buy the new mac mini it only $599

best of luck

jel

I have 10.4 running on my g3 400 w/ 384mb ram. quite well I may add. I dont know about the whole "just can't go from 9 to tiger you need 10.3" part as i did 10.2 then 10.4 both with clean installs, not upgrading.

Nothing's broken until you choose not to fix it.

hmm,

Interesting that. I have a blue and white
G3 300 with 256 megs ram and it's running
10.4.2, straight out the box. Even have an
iMac 233 running OS10.4.2 with 256 megs ram.

Try an external dvd drive.... may be safer.
