Comment:

I am new to MAC and one of my friends was downloading
the update for her powerbook. During the update she was
doing some other things with the computer and it locked
up. She ended up doing a hard shutdown of the computer.
When she turned the computer back on it hangs at
initalizing sign in. She was the only account on the
computer and she didn't have it set to where she would
have to use her userid and password to login. I am
thinking that her personal directory somehow got
corrupted. I was thinking that the best course of action
would be use the system restore disk, but before I went
diving into this project I wanted to make sure that there
weren't any other avenues to explore. thanks for your help
in advance
