Comment:

After installing System 10.4.2, I am unable to download movie audio sound bytes. All .wav and mP3 files download to my desktop as tiny 4KB snippets of the intended file. I cannot find anyplace in the system preferences to change the default audio application
to something other than QuickTime, as I suspect that
QuickTime is the problem. Does anyone know what is
causing this, and how I can fix it? I have 100 MB hard drive and a ton of RAM. Please advise if you have any idea what the issue is.

Is your harddrive only 100MB????? Or do you mean 100GB? I hope it is the latter, because if it is the former (100MB) then that is your problem! (Although I suspect you have 100BG)

Try deleting the Quicktime pl (preference list), or deleting Quicktime itself along with its .pl file(you can always install it again at a later date) and see if that solves the problem.

Test in a New Admin user, does it work there?
If so its a corrupted User, if that is the case Archive and
Install NOT preserving user and Network settings.
This is WORST case, so try other suggestions first.
Also, are you sure the files are not STREAMING video? Those
will produce a 4-8K Reference file when saved even with
QuickTime Pro, that is the intended behavior.
Go to http://www.apple.com/trailers/ and try those files,
most are full QT movies and not streaming content.
