I Know this is a Apple Forum I just wanted to know reasons why I should purchase an Apple G5 Dual 2Ghz. I am opening up a video editing company and want to know if there is a solid reason why I should buy an Apple over the new Athalon FX 64?. Please e-mail me with serious replies. Hello Bryan, In terms of processors, there will always be speed arguments in either the Intel/Athlon or Apple camps that will go on forever. Currently, they are both very good, very fast. The real benefit on the Apple side with the G5/OSX combo, is what I believe to be the superior applications offered up by Apple. Final Cut Pro, and DVD Studio Pro are arguably the best on the market at the moment for editing and DVD production. The PC world has some good applications for video production, but Apple really has the edge. Most people I deal with in the TV production game have gravitated away from Avid, and Media100 (still primarily Mac based) over to the latest Apple offerings. Our clients are frequently bringing in their firewire drives with their latest 30" TV Spot in Final Cut format. The G5s dual processor machines are fantastic too. Consistently well made, great to look at, even better to use ! Hope my rave helps ! wardley

Go with the MAC... i am a windows person but i am positive macs are much better for video editing. The athlon fx is good for gaming

The mac is focused on this area as a core market. Look at AMD's site, or the OEM's site...you will notice no section for video editing. Go to Apple.com. You will see that they have a devoted section of professionals doing real world work. Also, 64bits with software that is optimized...you won't find that yet on the PC side. Lastly, the mac is just cooler...copy and manage music with itunes for your video work, dumb stuff to DVD with three clicks of the mouse, solid OS, firewire,e tc...it's all there, out of the box. The pc can't compete with the smooth integration of all those things. Best wishes, BGT P.S. Don't buy the cheap G5...get the dual.
