Comment:

A relative of mine is having trouble with a forgotten/changed password on a Mac network that she is running. There are 3-4 G3's running OS 9, and when she tries to share drives, files etc, she is prompted for a password that she no longer has. Is there any way to change or delete it? She says that she has tried changing the password through the chooser, but hasn't had any luck. Any information would be greatly appreciated, or if more specific information is required, please ask. Thank you.

Turn File Sharing Off.
Open the Preference Folder in the System folder and
trash these preference files;

File Sharing
User & Groups Data File

Start File Sharing and set it up again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but after trashing the two files, it says that there is no password when you go back in, but after putting in a new and different password, it is just reverting back to the old password that I don't have.
