MAc i book screen wont turn on

I recently was given a mac i book 14 inch from a freind . he cant use it becasue for some reason the screen wont come on. When i turn on the power it makes the "ON" sound but the screen does not come on at all. It stays black the entire time. Anybody know a remedy to this or a Place in los angeles i can take it to for a cheap estimate? Im willing to buy a new lcd as a last resort. But id rather fix it cheap if possible. Its a apple ibook model numer: a1007 Im a p.c whiz but ive never opend a mac b4. thanks.

You will have to contact apple for an estimate for a repair or a Mac authorised dealer. To save some cash though, you can still use the ibook if you connect an external monitor to it with an adapter. Regards, Kyomii
