Hi, Well I have been asked to install the Panther system on an older MAC G4, and also the woman would like me to install more ram on the computer. The problem is I have never installed RAM. Go figure lol. Are there any websites with great descriptions and pictures or one or the other? Also, when I tell her to buy RAM does she need to buy more to add on to her RAM because she has 128MB or does she need to buy the 256MB upgrade. Basically the question would be whether or not you dump the old 128 mb of ram or whether there is a slot for more ram already installed so you can save the original 128 mbs of ram. Thanks for bearing with me as I am a beginner with macs. Now PC'S on the other hand lol.

You can get a manual here;

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50018

You didn't mention which G4 it is, but you can download
PDF's from Apple for Customer Installable Parts here;

Adding memory to a G4 is simple, maybe 5 minutes time.

She'll have for slots for memory. AShe'll need to decide
how much memory she wants to have.

Running OS X, the machine will recognize 2GB of memory.
You could add 4 512MB sticks.

A good place to get the best Mac memory prices;
