Comment:

How do i install Mac OS 7.5.5 (downloaded from Apple) on the vMac emulator? Is the .bin files executables or a type of compressed or image file? And by the way, does Mac Os 7.5.5 only support b/w? Or does vMac only supports b/w? And also, is Mac OS 7.5.5 a 32-bit Os? I only use PC, so i don't know anything about mac.

Thanks.

vMac emulates a Mac Plus, which means
B&W only.

7.5.5 itself can be 32-bit friendly, but the
Mac Plus ROMs are 24-bit only, so you
have to run in 24-bit mode.

Having never used it myself, I can't say
exactly how to install it, but my first guess
would be something like this:

1) Create a virtual hard disk for vMac's
files to reside on.
2) Use a disk image like one of Gamba's
Superbooters from

http://home.earthlink.net/~gamba2/

to boot vMac.

3) Once booted, run the 7.5 Installer.

What if I used Softmac 2000? Could it emulate a color & 32-bit mac? Where can i find the ROM to start Softmac?

I use Basilisk II, it's free. The ROM image isn't. Read up on both at

The superbooter file doesn't work.
I can't open the .bin file.
Please tell me a little more detailed how I should do it.
Renember: I haven't a Macintosh I can use to make a ROM or Image file of.
