Newbie to Macs.
I have a HP 8230e USB CD Writer. The iMac sees the USB device I have plugged in, but asks for drivers. Where can I find drivers (Apple & HP do not have them abailable on websites - that I can find) How do I get the iMac to recognise the CD? I am running OS9.

I have been given an informal pointer to this address by HP themselves. This is a lead to an unsupported "fix". http://www.computing.net/mac/wwwboard/forum/731.html ........... see Response 19. No reply from that address yet though.

The CD burners come with software that
include the drivers. You cannot get the
drivers seperately from the software.

For all you Mac people, get TOAST (from
Adaptec, I think - Version 4 is OS9
Compliant) and it should recognise the
burner just fine with the built in drivers.

I will try Toast.

The official word from HP is that they do not support Mac for that CD burner. I emailed them as I use that same drive with my PC and wanted to use it on my Mac. No luck. There are hundreds of posts all over the internet with the same question.

I followed up on the link that HP gave, and the e-mail address does not exist (according to the error message). I have also installed Toast (latest version), but the writer is still not recognised. If you have any other suggestions, or maybe a detailed step-by-step walk-through I'd be glad to hear about them.

Roxio are the new supporters of Toast - this link is to their compatability chart.

This also says my HP8230e should be compatible with a Mac when used with Toast. I guess we try again and again until it works.

Cheers
