Hi,
I am very new to mac, and wanted to get this old thing running just about any OS / system I could. I read up and decided to try system 7.5.3.
When I turn on the machine, with no floppy inserted, i get a diskette with a '?' mark blinking. If I try anything below system 7, and sometimes 7.x versions, i get an error msg that says the installer is too old for my model.
The only floppy i've been able to boot off of is the 7.5 Network Access Disk. It being my only choice, I setup PC MacLan and have a server running from my windows computer.
I can browse files on my windows server from my mac color classic, but can't run anything. If I double click it to run, it'll always give me the error that says it can't find the document's creator to know how to run the file.
I've tried files with extensions of .sea, .smi, .hqx, .bin, all that. None of them open. I have the system 7.5.3 files on my server, and part 1 is in .smi format, and the rest in .part formats. I'm guessing if I can get 7.5.3 running i'll have a little more luck.
So.. why can't I run any of these files? Any hints?
Thanks,
Brett
