When I turn on my Mac, instead of showing the happy Mac picture when the mouse cursor appears, it stops there just leaving the cursor with the gray background. What is wrong?

Try booting with cmd-opt-X-O held down and see if that works, or with the shift key held down. Sounds like your OS might be corrupted, or possibly a preference file or two.

Yeah, uh, re-read my first post and try that. Not Disk Tools. What I suggested.

I have tried to use the key conbinations but it sytill will not respond. However if I press the debug button on the side, it shows the sad mac with the following error code:
0000000F
0000000D

Pressing the interrupt switch during boot is a surefire way to get the Sad Mac, and such an error code is meaningless.

What do you mean by "did not respond" when you tried booting with command, option, X, and O held down? (You do know which one is the command key, right?)

When I said that it did not respond, it meant that it still only showed the gray screen with the cursor and I do know what the option key is.
