Linksys makes an easy to use hardware router, use it, it costs around $150 I think.

Hi there,
My situation is a little bit different: I also
have a PC with a network card and an
iMac (only one network card). I'm thinking
of buying a cable modem and i'd like to
know how to connect both computers to
the modem. Do I need an extra network
card? Do I onlu have to buy a hardware
router? Thank you

Well you must be trying to use a soft router based application on your mac setup. I use IP net router from www.sustworks.com or you could use viacom softrouter plus.

I have a PC with two nic cards. One is attached to my cable modem and is assigned an address from dhcp. The other nic card is connected to a switch that connects to two macintosh units ( a G3 and a 7350/180). I am running Wingate 4.0 as a server on the pc and the macs are configured with a static IP on the same subnet with the wingate server, and that is the internet setup...I'm still experimenting with pcmaclan and dave for file sharing...

Both are connected (ethernet)through a
SMC Barricade Router. The Router ist
connected to a cable modem. Do I need
