I have an old Mac 6400/200 with System 7.5.5. I truly need to move some files (LARGE FILES) from the computer to Windows XP. I bought the Mac used and it appears to have an Ethernet port on back. Can I network this computer with a WinXP laptop via a patch cord? Which cord exactly? What settings do I need to adjust? I had considered a CD-R (which the Mac doesn't have) but can't seem to locate one... I have three hard drives attached to the Mac and eventually they will fail and all of my data will be lost -- mostly graphics that are in the 3-4mb size range.
You'll need special software to get a Mac running 7.5 to network with Windows. Thursby's DAVE software would do this, but I can't find any older versions, and the current version only works with 9 or newer.
You're best bet is to find a external SCSI CD burner. You can try looking/posting in places like LEMSwaplist (it's a google group).
