Subject: LOST ADMIN. PASS. USING VIRTUAL PC |
Comment: I recently received a used iMac that my brother got for an exceptionally low price. The iMac had Virtual PC 3.0 installed on it which uses Windows 2000 Pro. Edition. I am not sure if Virtual PC comes installed on Macintosh computers or if the person who used this before me purchased Virtual PC. Either way, I don't have any disc. I also do not have any type of disc for Windows 2000 Pro, Edition. The problem is that when I open Virtual PC 3.0 and Windows loads, a password screen appears. The user name that appears is Administrator and I have no idea what the password is. I really would like some help figuring this out because I would like to emulate PC. One last thing, if this is of any help, I have a Windows 95 CD from another computer in the house. I was thinking maybe I could use Windows 95 instead of Windows 2000. Even if this would work, I don't know how to do this. Please someone help me with this problem of mine.

Reply: (edit)Have your brother get a hold of the guy who installed Win2k on there and have him send you the original disks for VPC and Win2K. If he refuses (very likely), you're legally obligated to delete it all anyway, since you don't have the licence for it. And M$ *will* come after you if they find out :( While he's getting the media, have him ask what the admin password is too :) p

Reply: (edit)How about the part I mentioned about using Windows 95 instead? Would that work and how would I go about doing it?
