Hi I just got registration numbers for a program and did not record them for future needs. I know they are on my computer hiding somewhere. Where can I find them?

Try this, with the program open, click on the program's name
in the menu bar, and the first listing should be "About
(whatever the programs name is)", click on it. Some of the
time the reg code will be listed in the window that pops up.

if they're anywhere, they'll be in a .plist file or similar,
either in your home library preferences folder, or the
root library prefs folder..you can read any plist with
textedit..you'll have to go through them carefully though, as they can appear cryptic at times, and not all plists are of the
type that store reg info..
If you got your number by email (which is the sense I get,
anyways) you can often get it from the email again even if
you deleted it locally, if your ISP's POP prefs arent set to
delete on their server..just log in via webmail to youyr ISP
and it may still be there..
Also, if it was sent via email, the software company
probably has a record too...they usually keep these for
just that reason.
Good idea to keep a record on a cd , in the future..
I ran into that prob myself updating to panther..i only
found my reg info for a couple apps 3 months later!

OH, THANKS! It is on the About Pages window. Now I have it recorded for an emergency. Buring a disk of all the information might be an excellent idea as while Macs are very stable I have had to reinstall from time to time.

Some programs, like Adobe, don't have the complete
registration number in that window.
They can also be in a hidden file almost impossible to find.
