Subject: Loading OS 7.5.3 from floppy |
Comment: Hi, first of all, I am a recent pc convert, so I bring many pc methods which don't always work in the macworld... I have a MacOS CD, system 7.5.3, that I would like to load onto a Mac that doesn't have a CD-ROM drive. I took the disk images from the CD and used disk duplicator to make floppies of the system software (15 disks) and one for disk tools. I would like to load this OS onto a mac that already has a working OS on it. How do I use these just-made floppies to reformat the hdd and load 7.5.3 on? From my pc experience, a floppy in the drive when turning on the computer will be booted to and override the os on the hdd. How do I do this on the mac? You can email me the response at kgigante@edmail.com. Thanks in advance!

Reply: (edit)Put the first floppy in when the machine is off, then boot. The floppy will pop out, push it back in right away. It should boot off the floppy.
