Hey there,

I'm trying to use Limewire 2.7, but it is extremely slow, even in the lauching process.

I read several times on this forum that Limewire is slow, but was wondering if I have enough RAM : I'm running 64Mo for the time being.
Would it work better if I add memory ? What is the minimum required ?

Thanks for your advices.

I've not been impressed with the pre-OS X versions of Limewire. It might be because of the interface of the OS X version is a lot less ... Java-y. OS X runs its version of Limewire faster, too, from my experience. As it is, I don't think that 64MB is good for much of anything new anymore. I'd say that 128 MB is the minimum, although if you're planning on upgrading to OS X, I'd give it at least 256MB. That's not just for Limewire, that's for everything.

8.6 hardly runs well on 64MB RAM, let alone 8.6 + Java-intensive applications. You REALLY ought to upgrade as far as you can; RAM is dirt-cheap, especially PC100, and the G3s should also be upgraded to 9.2.2 if you can afford it.

Thanks a lot for your responses, guys !
I upgraded to 320 MB RAM, and it's definitely better.
Thanks again !
