I have a 333 imac, running 9.0.4, and my new Lexmark Z22 printer will not print. I have loaded the driver, via CD, and the printer control panel will do a test print OK, but when I select it in the chooser, I get a message the "driver is not loaded".

You're not the only one who's experienced problems with Lexmark printers and Mac compatibility. I recently purchased a Z32 at Walmart for $70 (HPs were twice as much) for use with my 400 MHz iMac DV. Although the box said the Z32 was Mac compatible, the first thing I saw when I opened the box was a note saying, in essence, "Attention Mac users: the Mac driver is not included on this CD-ROM. You must go to www.lexmark.com and download it." I did that, and the printer is working. However, I do experience random system failures when printing from certain programs like Quark and SimpleText on a seemingly random basis. My advice to you is to search Lexmark's website for an update or driver patch. Lexmark is an offspring of IBM Computers, and Lexmark's headquarters are right here in Lexington, KY where I live.

You've probably turned off Desktop Printing Should be on. ( I assume you did read the System requirements on the outside of the box. These are very nice printers...

You are not alone. I'm a linux user and the drivers don't work either!!!!!!
I got my Z32 nearly a yr back, it came with the Mac driver, did well at first, after 2 months it stopped printing, a call to Lex's helpline wasn't fruitful. Took me another 2 mths to get it running again. I suspect there is a conflict betw OS 9.0 and the driver.
I'm married to an iMac DV 400 and an iBook....hope I'm not breaking the law!!!!
Summary: I have about 20 programmes running in Microsoft Basic (QuickBasic) that unfortunately wont run on my iMac (System 8.6). Why? I tried to translate them in FuturBasic with the translator provided by F...
