When I tried to activate printer. (Laser Writer 4/600) on Power Mac OS 8.1, I got "apple talk is using port" messages. I disabled apple talk in control panel, now printer cannot be identified. Do I need a driver for printer or do I need to set apple talk on remote access? How can I check if driver is in system? Remote access is not available in apple talk control panel. Read somewhere I need to Install Apple Remote Access Client, Do I? where can I get it? Can anyone help? thanks

This printer needs Laserwriter 8 to use. It is a local talk printer and works over a phone net type network. If you don't have it set up that way it won't work. You need two phone net "boxs" and the cable to connect them. When everything is connected, select laserwriter in the chooser and create a new printer. You should then be able to print to the printer.
