I think you can just insert the disk and it will pop up a little box with an "Initialize" button in it, you click that and it will format it for Mac.

If you have PC Exchange in your Control Panels folder it would be good idea to disable it while formatting a PC floppy.

Macs can read pc disks. When you place a pc disk in a Mac, it will have "PC" on the icon. You can read and write to it.
If you're swapping files between Mac/pc, such as grapics, you can use pc formatted disks.

Pc's can't read Mac disks. In order to read Mac disks in pc's, you must format them on the pc.

Also, the program MacLinkPlus formats disks.

Put the floppy disk in your disk drive,
depending on weather the PCexchange
extension is turned on or not, you will
either get an initialization option or you
can choose ERASE DISK from the
SPECIAL menu, just make sure you have
highlighted the floppy disk. You have to
choose the format. You will probably get
a DOS 1.44, PRODos, and MAC OS, just
choos the mac os, and you're all set

First of all, it's best that if you want to share things back and forth from yomac and a friend's pc, you should use a real pc disk. I've had mac disks go bad on me in the past when i formatted them as pc.

(If it says on the box when you bought it "reformatable to pc as 1.44mb then you are ok)

Place the pc disk in your mac. If it says it can't read the disk but asks if you want to initialize it, say no if you have stuff on there.

go to apple's ftp site, or even website and locate "PC Exchange"

Download and install it. from there, when you highlight a disk and go to file and select initialize, you can select wether it should be pc or mac.

just one last note: be carefull about trading files. images, text stuff like that is ok, but program's can't be traded, nor can some documents such as word or excell unless you have the mac version on your mac or at least something similar.
