Subject: itunes stopped burning
OS: OSX 10.1.3
CPU/Ram: PowerPC G3
Comment:

for a long time i've used itunes 2.0.4 through OSX 10.1.3 to burn audio and mp3 cds but recently it stopped working--when i tell it to burn a cd it stops during the initializing phase
and tells me that an 'unknown error (-1001)' has occurred (sometimes it says
'unknown error (-14337)'). i'm using an external cdr/
rw drive (sony model CRX1600L) which
has never given me problems.

i've tried different playlists, in case
damaged mp3s was the problem, i tried
varying the burn speed, i tried changing
the blank cd, i've tried reinstalling itunes and none of this has worked.

any ideas?

Try updating to 10.1.5 and see if that helps anything.

i updated osx to 10.1.5, which didn't
change the problem with itunes2 (it still
gave me the same error message).

i then updated itunes to 3.0.1 which also
did not fix the problem--it went a few
songs further into the initialization than
itunes2 (which i guess is progress)
before it cancelled the burn, explaining
that an unknown error had occurred (-14337).

it doesn't actually write any info so i
haven't wasted any discs but it still isn't
burning anything

Try tossing out iTunes' preferences.

Set the checkbox clear for the option "Cross Fade" or whatever it is called in the english version of iTunes (i have got the german one) I expirienced the same unknown error 14337 while trying to burn a mp3 CD with an iBook and now it seems to be OK!

b+w G3, 9.2.2, itunes 2, disc
burner/authoring, firewire authoring up to
date. Tried this config on two diff
partitions one with QT55, the ohter with
the latest. Tried with and without VM, with
1MB VM, with 1.5 times actual ram VM,
tried assigning more mem to QT, to
Itunes, etc.

Tried with and without external Firewire HD's and with songs located in the itunes folder or as aliases to remote files. Still no dice.

Still will not finish but an occasional disc.

60 wasted so far trying. This is very
frustrating.

IF anyone knows the actual fix or deal,
please share
