My apartment complex, who's network I administer has a very thrown together network setup. There were initially issues recieving a quality signal for much of the residents - repeaters were tried originally but issues continued to occur.
The network now has a DSL connection which runs into a Dlink Router (plugged into the internet line) and from there connected to 8 other routers placed in various locations around the building. The hodge-podge system was working just fine until a couple days ago when the internet connection failed.
I spent time on the phone with the carrier (AT&T) and we discovered we needed to re-configured the DLink internet to use a bridge for connection (PPPoE), after this was done, you can access the internet from this router and 2 others, but not from the remaining routers. The hardwiring between the routers (other than the primary plugged into the modem) are plugged not into the Internet port, but the general port. This was working before, but now only is working on 2.
Any suggestions? The setup just seems awful to me and doesn't make sense, I want to work with the hardware we have, but want to put effort in to actually fixing this and not just patching it together.
Any help would be much appreciated!!!
