problem: a CD burned on a PC in ISO 9660 format gives error ID=-36 as reading directly from an application; copying to the hard disk is possible, but files are corrupted; problem appears for files larger than 10MB;

Try reinstalling the Foreign File Access extension from your Mac OS CD. You may need to use TOME Viewer to get just that extension out of the installer... look here if you do need it:

Have you tried verifying the data which is on the CD on another computer? This will help you decide wether the problem is with your machine or the CD.
