OS: OS X 10.2.5
CPU/Ram: G4/768
Comment:

I don't know how to make my ISDN NT/Modem work on my mac. I have 17" iMAC G4, 1Ghz, 768Mb ram. The modem is made by a German company called ELCON. It has a USB port and drivers for OS 9.x only! Those drivers are just modem scripts. How can I make this happen on my 10.2.5 iMAC. Please explain it to me like I am a 6 year old :(. I am a complete newbie. How do you install external modem anyway? I tried 9.x scripts and they froze my machine. After the initial sartup and just before the logon screen, the aqua ball would sart spinning forever!!!! I had to restore the system! PLEASE HELP me as I am desperate.
Thanks,
koskar

And I quote:

"It has a USB port and drivers for OS 9.x only!"

Not gonna work on OS X. You said so yourself.

The manufacturer told me that since OS X is unix based, I should be able to make it work. I don't know how. Ok, let me put it this way: How you install an external modem on Os X? You need what drivers? I am sure that MAC doesn't need drivers in the way stupid PCs do! Modem scripts? Is there a way to re-write old scripts to work on new OS?

You need drivers for that modem for OS X.

They don't currently exist.

If you want to *write* some, it can probably be made to work, but the old-style modem scripts won't "just work" because OS 9 and OS X don't use modem scripts in the same way.

how do I "write" modem scripts? Can OS 9.x sripts be "re-compiled"? Is that an easy or a futile job?
Thanks,

It isn't a simple issue of writing a modem script. If it were a normal analogue modem, then it wouldn't be such an issue. But you need to actually write a device driver for that particular piece of hardware.

Don't take offence at this, but if you're having to ask me how to do it, you don't stand a chance in hell of making it work in a reasonable length of time.

I am not offended :). It was my mistake, I should have asked: "how one writes a modem script" ;). So, I should just wait for the OS X drivers...
