Hello,

I'm getting sick of Windows, and I would like to know if Mac OS supports or has an i386 version, if it does, please tell me which version of Mac OS supports it.

Thanks,
Trey

you can emulate the mac os on a pc by
running a mac emulation program which
will allow you to install and run the mac
os. search the web for mac emulators. try
to get info on 'basilisk', but look for others
too.

Thanks, I'll go check it out ASAP! Personally, I think Apple oughta make a i386 version because: 1. It would improve OS sales - 2. Windows users could easily get Mac OS instead of Windows

Thanks,
Trey

Apple has a x86 version of Darwin the
core UNIX behind OS X unfortunatly, there
are not many drivers for it at this time.
From what I have read it is very similar to
BSD. I am not sure if there is a GUI for
Darwin yet though.

This is kinda a piece of histroy, but rumor has it throughout the mac community that during the early years of the mac-os, (when billy gates wanted permision to use it's interface with win 3.1 and mac slammed the door, :)....there was a group or at least one programmer/hacker who rewrote the kernel of the macos to the i386. it's possible, but the actual cpu's are different, since pc's are x86 and mac is iether Motorola RISC or newer IBM CPU.

Making Darwin for pc is a good step yet so far it will be just a bit before mac apps can run on it. There is a project called mace, which is trying to allow win users to run mac apps within windows, but progress is slow.

if you want to completely replace your windows experience and you have a half-decent machine ie; high end 486 or pentium, get fusion 3 from emulators inc. it runs in dos and emulates everything, except fmu or something like that, but most apps don't use it, so no worries.

it has full sound, SCSI, and all the trimming support.

:)
