Subject: Is OS 9.0.4 compatible with OS X ?
Comment:

I have a G4 450DP running under OS
9.0.4 and Adobe software (photoshop 6
and illustrator 9) that operate on this OS
but nothing higher (so Adobe tells me).

I have Pagemaker 7.0 which will run on
9.l or in Classic mode on OS X but not on
9.0.4.

What to do so I can keep AND use the
software that I have as my own needs do
not require upgrading them?

My computer is not partitioned but if that
is necesary I can do so.

The question (in case it is not clear) is
whether I can keep using OS 9.0.4 and
the software I have that works with it and
install another OS (9.1 or OS X) to operate
the new version of Pagemaker. And, if so, what is the best method for doing THAT.

Thanks for any help you can provide as all
the information I found at Apple deals only
with OS X and using Classic mode/9.2.

Interesting. I shudda knowed. : )

Thanks...will save me some time (and $$). Do you
have any conflicts or problems....?

Sounds like I am set if I just install the
9.l...still I wonder about X and 09.0.4

and I sure wish I took the name of that
Adobe rep...perhaps my error was going
to the customer service (general) area
rather than tech help. ?? grrr.

I think Apple is offering free upgrades to 9.1 and 9.2 if you have any version of 9.0.x. Also we just bought OS X and it comes with a copy of 9.2 for the classic environment.
