My daughter wants an iPod Touch 2G.

We have a Verizon cell phone plan and I'm trying to avoid having her carry a cell phone and an iPod Touch.

I've seen conflicting info on making an iPhone 3G work on Verizon. One YouTube video shows how the videos that say it can be done were faked.

So what's the deal? Can an iPhone (GSM, right?) be used on the Verizon (CDMA, right?) network?

If so, should I buy an iPhone from Apple and unlock it myself, or buy one unlocked for a source like eBay, etc?

(Yes, I know the dangers of buying something like that on eBay, but I don't know of othere sources for unlocked iPhones.)

Thanks!

Thanks!

No it won't work, iPhone works on TMobiles network and they unofficially support iPhones on their network. I'd steer clear of anyone selling an unlocked iPhone on ebay or anywhere else because it's probably stolen. Apple is rumored to be in talks with Verizon so it may be able to work in the not so distant future but I would'nt risk it.
