iPod syncing with PC

when i connect my iPod to the firewire cable, somtimes a iTunes box comes up and says it can't sync with the iPod becasue the files are installe dcorrectly. When i restart my compouter, its snycs perfectly. Is there any reason for this? DO i need to reinstal everything? If i reinstall everything will i lose my iTunes library?

What version of the iPod software have you got? I've heard other reports of this issue where it only works after a reboot. Looks like a bug with the iPod software perhaps. Try installing the previous version of it and see if that works.
