Subject: ipod stuck in re-formatting mode
OS: Mac OS 9.4
CPU/Ram: G3
Comment:

My ipod worked perfectly until yesterday. Now, when I plug it into my CPU, rather than updating the song files, it shows a disc with a magnifying glass, the "re-formatting" mode. All my songs have been deleted, and when the re-formatting is done, the ipod appears to be ready to go. It works the way it does without any song files in it. But when I connect it to the G3, even my friend's G4, it goes right into re-formatting mode again. iTunes doesn't recognize the ipod, either. Is there anything I can do?

Thanks

Try resetting the iPod. The instructions are in the
manual.

I did that, and it didn't work. I'm thinking I have to send it in for service. Either that or throw it out the window!
