Comment: The iPod mini is now available here, but it says in the system requirements that you need Mac OS 10.1.5 or later. Is it possible to run it with Mac OS 9.1, and has anyone had any success with that? I have iTunes, firewire etc. so I don't see any problem with that, except the OS. %00

Reply: (edit)The new ipods and any other new apple hardware will not support Mac OS 9. You need to upgrade to Mac OS X to use Apple's new hardware. I also believe the new iPods only work with the new iTunes, OS 9 only has iTunes versions 1 and 2, iTunes is now at version 4.5 in Mac OS X Panther 10.3.5. I would seriously advise you upgrade to Mac OS X from Mac OS 9, Mac OS X has been out for 3 years, isn't it time you switched to it? Or..if you don't want to upgrade, then you can simply return your iPod mini to your nearest Apple dealer or phone Apple to have it returned. I hope this has helped.

Reply: (edit)I have an old powerbook G3 and was given a Gen 4 iPod; is there someway to at least use the "use iPod as disk drive" function in USB to gain access to the mp3s?
