My ipod refuses to stop inserting gaps
between tracks, no matter what I try.
Anyone know how to convince it that this
is a very uncool thing to do?

The iPod doesn't have anything to do with it.

iTunes, OTOH, might. What version are you using, and have you tried tossing the prefs?

Thanks for the suggestions.
I'm using v2.0.4 at work, don't know which
one at home.
I haven't tried tossing the preferences file,
but the problem seems to reside in the
pod itself as when I play from iPod via
firewire using iTunes, there are no gaps.
The gaps only re-surface when I play
direct from the disconnected iPod.

Try updating to iTunes 3 on OS X and see if that helps at all.
