Ok this is the problem, when I run IE 4.5 or Netscape Communicator 4.07 they crash. It seems that the Internet connection is Ok other internet utilities can run, Sherlock & Outlook Express. I downloaded the latest mrj and installed it that corrected the Netscape error. Now Netscape will not connect to internet using a proxy server. Oh well, I am now assuming I am back to original error. At one point I got a message error "Type 11." a memory violation error. at another point I got an error "Type 2." I am not familiar with this one. Um Ok IE never gets to the error message it locks p before that. I've looked for info on this error and have come up short. The only thing I came close with was an article from 97 about a crash that occurred with internet explorer giving the error "Type 11." It was a memory error and it yielded a the same symptoms that I am seeing. The fix was to allocate more memory to the browser over reinstall the operating system (a last resort.) I have reinstalled both browsers to no avail. I have removed preferences to no avail. Does anyone have an idea?

The standard Mac Browser problem fix is to write down all of your TCP/IP settings (or do a screen picture capture), then trash (and _empty_ the trash, of course) your MacTCP DNR file found in your System folder. Reboot, and see if that helps.
